I used sefy's SeVCD NTSC Enhanced template to make a 89 1/2 min movie go on one cd... I used CQ VBR 70 and lowered the audio to 160 as the guide said a 91 min would fit with these settings... but after encoding the file is 829 mb... does anyone know why this would be?? does the enhanced template make a bigger file then the basic template?? would re encoding in SeVCD NTSC basic do the trick?? I am confused, i thought i followed the instructions to the T... Any help would be appreciated

  2. Each movie encodes and compresses diffrently, i'll give you two drastic examples to show what I mean:

    1) Transformers - The Movie = Animated Cartoon, loads of action total movie length 86min, not even my SxVCD or SeVCD could get it down to 800mb unless I reduced the Audio to 192k.

    2) Bridget Jones's Diary = Drama, slow sequences (boring movie) total movie length 100min, using my SxVCD Enhanced I got it the movie down to 798mb!!! using my SeVCD Enhanced it got down even to 778mb!!

So as you can see, you can not predict the size of the file using VBR compression, and each movie encodes depending on it's action sequences and motion.

    allright, it works
    Shrek - 130min+ widescreen
    sevcd ntsc enhanced template
    789mb

who would of thought that a adam sandler movie would be so much larger than a movie like shrek.. oh well it works! does the widescreen dvd take less space then a fullscreen version of the film? both of these attempts were widescreen.. Thanks alot for the help.

  4. hmm.. for movies like Shrek which are CGI based only, I wouldn't use my Template, i'd either split them or use a larger CDR capacity, I have Shrek on a 90min CDR, perfect fit.

  5. Sefy, how did you Shrek DVD rip turn out?

I turned it into a standard compliant VCD with Panasonic and the quality was absolutely amazing. It is by far and away, my best quality rip to VCD ever.

I'm just wondering why it encoded so well... Any ideas?

  6. I did it also in Standard VCD (with a few modifications) and I also added the chapters for the fun of it, one of my best rips, very strange considering the movie is CGI, but it really turned out great quality!

  7. Did any of you have problems with the audio on Shrek? I used dvd2avi and xmpeg with cinemacraft plugin and the audio came out very choppy. I ended up using vstrip and ac3 decode for the audio. Just wondering if I did something wrong on my first two attempts.

  8. Yeah, it was a good movie...

I decided to put in the animated main menu and the animated scene select screens as well (+ the "bridging animations" ) as well as the "karaoke" clip.

As for the audio, I had no problems at all (R4 PAL). I just used my standard procedure (DVD Decrypter + Flask + Panasonic).

I'm still curious as to why Shrek turned out so well. My past CGI movies have come nowhere near the same quality (Bug's Life and Antz).

  9. I only did the movie itself, and no, had absolutly no Audio problem, the whole thing took me about 4 hours, easy rip, frameserving and encoding i've had in a long time.
