  1. I have an ultima dhm-g48 dvd drive that I have been trying to flash. The firmware I found was from the firmware page linked to at the top of this forum. The problem that I have is when I unzip the various firmwares for this drive, it has two bin files, both of which are roughlly half the size of the original firmware on the drive. I assume that one file is bank 0 and the other is bank 1. When I reinstall the original firmware, it flashes these two banks. I have been unable to get it to do anything with the two files though. I have tried mtkflash and uflash. What program can work with these two files or how do I get mtkflash to use two files. Fyi the drive has ver 2.40 and I am trying to go back to 2.01 or 2.21. The drive only reads at 2x and I have been leed to believe searching through these forums that older firmware can unlock the speed to get 5x.
I really don't care if the firmware is reigon altered or not. Original firmware is just fine with me. I have tried both altered and unaltered versions but the only thing that works is the backup I made of the original. The drive fails to be detected with anything else (during startup).

  2. After searching and searching I finally figured it out. The first guide I read on mtkflash from the rpc1.org site didn't list aditional switches. I found a guide in their forus that did though. The two files were for each bank. You use /a0 for the first bank and /a1 for the second bank with the first and second files. For anybody else with a dhm-g48 drive, as a few others have sugested, it does read faster with older firmware. Changing from 2.40 to 2.01, using anydvd and nero recode, it knocked the entire time from start to finish from around 90min including burning, down to 55min including burning. Fyi I flashed the rp1 ver of 2.01 from etna and burned to a liteon 851s. Hope that helps someone else out.
