  1. I am trying to re-encode a file from SVCD to DVD, to support my Pioneer dvd player which doesn't like mpeg audio. My problem is this is only the second time I have tried this, the first time took a lot of trial and error, but I was able to re-encode with TMPGENC to DVD compliant mpeg2 file and use TMPGENC Dvd author to encode to .vob files and re-encode audio to AC3 and it finally worked. The file I am now trying to convert is in SVCD format and I used TMPGENC to encode to DVD and it gets to a particular frame and repeats the video for tha frame for the rest of the movie audio is fine, about half way through. I tried many settings, all the guides give you different settings, and wiht and without using the wizard, and de-mux first and just converting video stream. I have also tied MPEG-VCR and that got a lot further but it gets to about 95% and stops, I guess because it takes over 6 hours I normally leave it and have not been able to catch it at the end, when I come bak it is done but the last 15 mins is missing, the file is 2hrs and 12mins.

Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong or easier ways to do the same thing. I would like to convert to DVD compliant because it is the most compatible with stand alone players.

    Thank you for the information,

    John

Well apparently your SVCD MPEG-2 file has "issues". Must be corrupted or something. Who knows?

Is it something you can go back to the source on? Like if it was a DVD just re-encode to DVD from the original or if it was a VHS video etc. just recapture it (though this time at 720x480/576).

  4. Thank you, I think the problem is I have a PAL source and have been trying to convert to NTSC. I will read up on using PAL, I know there can be problems converting.

    Thanks again

The problem you describe has nothig to do with PAL to NTSC conversions.

The source file must have bad frames or in some way be corrupted.

  6. I have had something similar happen where the same frame of video was frozen or repeated while the audio played normally but that was due to Macrovision on the source VHS....Aaaack...I just re-read your post...Never Mind as you are going from SVCD to DVD
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space.
