  1. Hi!

    Having read this guide:

    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php

I'm wondering which of those four software gives the best overall quality, regardless of the time it takes to compress (inclusive of all menus and extras). I would presume it would be InstantCopy because it's the only one that doesn't compress in such speed.

So far I've tried three of the four sotware and have found that compression, whilst giving a good DVD quality picture, occasionally you can see blurs like after every 10secs, as in blury transitions. None of the software yet tried are able to give a sort of DivX picture, i.e. not a DVD quality image, but you can't notice blurly transitions, for example during high speed chases when the images are moving fast.

Is there no way of achieving, say, the best DivX quality possible from a DVD9 to DVD5?

Look forward to your kind comments.

    Thanks.

sometimes you can get perfect quality on certain dvds, but some I've noticed are almost as bad as vcd quality. I have about 4 different software for dvd9 to dvd5, but for the most part I get okay quality when backing up everything. Until they come out with the dual capacity dvd-r's, then I think there will be less of a chance of compression used.

they all probably do equally well, it all depends on how much they have to be compressed. i like dvdshrink best because of the deep analysis function, which improves picture quality when you have to compress a lot
