  1. I have some music videos I have made and I would like to convert them to a good quality, yet small, .avi file, or .wmv file. I have seen videos with top quality on .avi files that are like 4.5 mb, and I have seen good full episodes of shows that are like 10mb or less. Please help me by sending me a link, if thats allowed on this forum (I've been on to many fourms to remember). or explain how, i have seen the turtoial on here labled " wmv to divx" but when I attempt that I don't get the same thing. (i.e. When I place a .wmv file in there it doesnt give me Stream 1/2 to link it anywhere else.)

    Thanks in advance.

You said you created some music videos. What format are they in and how long are they? Would you characterize them as being high quality? Converting to another format will diminish quality to some degree. Also, how long were these 4.5mb full episode avi clips you refer to? I find it hard to believe they were decent quality even if they were a minute long.

  3. They range from 2 mins to 7 mins. It could have been .wmv too but i know it was very small. The .wmv have great visual quality and average sound. A full episode = 20 mins roughly. I hope this helps a little or something...

We're getting there. What format are your videos in? Mpeg, or AVI, and if avi, what codec? Maybe yours and my opinion of good quality differs but if I were to take a 7 minute clip and convert if to Divx the resulting file would have a video bitrate of around 1200kbps, an audio bitrate of 192kbps and the file would be approximately 70mb. If I wanted it to just be "watchable" I'd use a video bitrate of around 400kbps and the file would be around 30mb. Now let me ask you something else. Around what size (in mb's)do you want your 7 minute clip?

That still doesn't answer my questions, but that's ok. Download Canopus Procoder and experiment with WMV and Real Media. Decide for yourself what quality and size is acceptable. Good luck.
