  1. Hi, i have downloaded a few svcd's, and because my dvd player doesn't player doesn't play svcds, i thought it would be best to convert the svcd to dvd and then watch the full film. However, every time i have converted from svcd to dvd, using Tmpgenc, the film seems a bit "jumpy" i.e. it doesn't run smoothly. I use Nero 6 to burn the dvd, and tmpg author, to author. I have tried burning at 2x and 4x.

I'm not really experienced when it comes to encoding, so i tend to use the wizard in Tmpgenc to kinda make the settings.

Can anyone advise how i could overcome this and what would be the ideal settings to convert from s/vcd to dvd?

thanks, any help is geatly appreciated

Are the SVCD's NTSC or PAL and are you trying to convert to NTSC or PAL?

There is the problem , different framerates . Converting correctly from NTSC to PAL is a bit complicated . I had a similar problem to yourself.

What I found is that all my dvd players including PS2 and DVDrecorder are happy to play NTSC films so instead of coverting to PAL DVD and getting picture judder I have started converting to NTSC DVD and Hey Presto no more judder.

I suggest you give that a go.
