Sony DRU 510a "locked in write"

Does anyone know how to reset my writer, i managed to get the disk out but it seems as if its still trying to write. the light on the front constantly flashes, ive unistalled and reinstalled, even unplugged it. Someone must know a way round this. its the second time ive posted this and know one could help.

Mike, there is no way around this as far as I know. I had the same exact thing happen to me and Sony had me send them the drive for repair. It took two weeks exactly for the drive to be returned.
The only way I could open the drive was with a paper clip in the small hole on the drive door. The light stayed on all the time as yours is doing.
Calll Sony tech support and wade through the menus to get a human. They will give you a return authorization number so you can return the drive to them. They're in California if I remember correctly.
Good luck with your drive, I'm having another problem with mine even as we speak. I sure wish I had bought a Plextor. Shame on me.
