Right now I am having some difficulties with my RV31K. IT plays DVD’s fine, it will not read the names of my MP3’s, and I created some VCDs and SVCD’s. some play fine and some are having problems with being jittry. Actually right before this topic I posted a topic about this standalone being a bitch.. you might want to keep an eye on any responses I get. The SVCD’s that are jittry on my RV31K play fine on the PC and other VCD players... Ponders the problem………….

  3. Dont get Sony!!!! Panasonic is ok, but i recomend a pioneer they can play everything (cept MP3 on most models). They have great quality. Sony is very very picky with CDR media. Panasonic is not bad but has no SVCD

Apex may be cheap but they are multi format! My girlfreind got one (Apex 500w) and it's okay for $100. You can also change the heck out of it like the start-up screen!

  8. Get Sony I had the same exact delima back in June. I went with the Sony DVP-NS400D. I got it at Sears for $190. It is a newer model than the Sony Dvps300 for about the same price. Right now Buy.com has it for $199. What I did was found the lowest price I could find on the Internet (using pricewatch.com and MySimon.com and other price search engines). Once I found the lowest price, I printed it out and took it to Sears. The pricematch electronics, even from the Internet. At the time, you couldn't find my model for under $250, except from the Internet. So far it has read every CDR I've thrown at it. It plays VCDs and XVCDs well. It doesn't play .MP3 or SVCD, but not many do. The picture quality and sound are incredible. I'm so happy with my purchase. I recommend the Sony DVP-NS400D.
