  1. Ok, I have a dvd I want to make a backup of. It has about 2 gigs of "extra" stuff i want to just get rid of. If i merely erase the files i want to not compress with dvd shrink, it says the files are missing and doesnt go on! If i try to re-author i cant add full menus!
Very confused as to how to take out unnessecary stuff.

EDIT: Ok, not confused so much anymore..I still have one concern: Is there an easier way to re-author then using dvd-shrink?

  3. I got to step 2 before a roadblock:

    1. rip all files in File MOde.
    2. in Shrink Open FIle and select VTS_xx.IFO of the main movie instead of the usual VIDEO_TS.IFO manager.

How do i Open a specific file? It only lets me browse to the folder containing the dvd files.

Ok, yeah im completely lost. ALL i want to do is remove extras (except the video preview trailer If I can) so i can make the movie of better quality. Its ridiculous that its wasting like 3 gigs on stuff i dont want.

DVD Shrink does not allow the removal of extras,it's just that simple. There maybe some convoluted method using additional third party programs. By far the easiest and not only method is CloneDVD. It allows you to simply de-select any "extra" you don't want and remove it. It's preview window shows clearly what your deleteing.

  5. That solved my problem 100%. I was able to use it, (With the aid of anydvd, due to CSS) and took out what i wanted. Thank you.

One more concern: When i had anydvd installed, it made my drives get a mind of their own. One example is when i burned a cd-r, i would select 8x or a similar low speed, but it would disregard me and just max itself out. Are there any lite alternatives that do the same thing AnyDVD does?

There is a freeware program that does the same thing as AnyDVD. Works under XP only. It's in the tools section on this website. Not sure of the name,XXXXX43 or similar.
