Fast Forward MPEG2 file in Players

When I try to fast forward through an MPEG2 file, it takes a while to start the video. The farther through the file I try to fast forward the longer it takes to start. This appears to happen with any player I use (Windows Media, ATI Player). Am I capturing the video wrong or is there something else going on, or maybe it just works this way.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, that's pretty much standard. Some decoders are better about it, some are worse. I've found that dedicated DVD apps such as WinDVD and PowerDVD are faster at seeking, but depending on the decoder you are using, your results WILL vary.
