  1. I use VirtualVCR and I have a NTSC-tape which I would like to capture on with my WinTV-card from my PAL/NTSC-video. The quality when playing from video to television is good but on computer it looks terrible, black&white and blurry.
TV is PAL and the video can handle both NTSC and PAL.
Do you have any ideas how to do?

  2. You need to set up your capture card to handle NTSC.

It could be that your VHS VCR can only output NTSC as PAL-60 which is next to impossible to capture although some have claimed that they have been able to to do.

Try doing a forum search on "PAL-60" or "PAL60" and you should get some hits.

There have been a few threads about this lately.

It's possible with the ATI AIW. I get some discoloration when capturing in PAL-60 mode, but that can be filtered away when encoding the video.

  5. Hi
Have spent a lot of time recently searching this forum for advice on capturing PAL 60 and now successfully capture it withou any problem.
There are two ways I know of to do so.
It is possible to capture with Dscaler but the easiest way is as follows:
If you are running XP and your card supports it you need to tweak the drivers e.g. BT878.
Download IuVCR, select PAL60, confirm your other settings and record. It is as simple as that.
Once you have captured the file you can do what you want with it e.g Virtualdub, TMPGEnc etc.

    Good Luck
