    hi,
i have been ripping dvds for a couple of years now and ive been copying dvds to dvdr and authoring my own dvds for about 4 months now. i have a lot of programs like encore dvd, pinnacle impression dvd pro, tmpgenc dvd, ect, ect. impression dvd pro seems to make two types of menus. the type most programse like encore make where buttons can be highlighted ect but it can also make these other menus i think they are calles hilite? but how they work is that you make the menu in photoshop and when a button is highlighted you can actually have a picture appear in the menu or such (not just a color sqaure or something) its quite hard to explain but anyone thats used impression will know. i have found NO other program that does these type of menus? if anyone else knows of another programe that can do these menus please fill me in as impression dvd pro 2.2 does not work very well. you can't import MPG MPEG VOB it must be demuxed to M2v ac3 wav ect and then it doesnt recognise the video file length and gets halfway through building the dvd and errors and crap. the patch 2.2.1 is ment to fix this but once installed i cannot save my projects then so i canot build them. i have tried reinstalling windows and all it just does not work. so if there are any other programs that can make these menus?

    thanx for any help.

  2. Follow this link for software to build menus completely compatible with DVD Impression Pro. It is a great program and I find it easier to use than Photoshop. http://www.mediachance.com/dvdmenu/. When using this program, I was able to have a working menu in 15 minutes.

I have had no problem using DVD Impression Pro 2.2 on XP Professional. No crap outs or anything. I don't mind that it uses elemental streams as long as the audio stays in sync with the video (and it seems to).

    Good luck.

thanx for the help. currenty downloading that menu program. but as i said the actual problem i am having is that when i import a video into impression pro 2.2 it WONT show / detect how long the video is or what resolution the video is. and when i goto build the dvd to burn it gets halfway or nearly to the end and errors. but if i make a prject using still images instead of video it works fine!!! also wanted to know if any other authoring apps can make the kinda menus that impression does as stated in my first message. sorry.

    thanx for any more help

all good authoring apps dont make the menu's -- you have to make them yourself
