  1. I've got a DVD that's NTSC instead of Pal so I've:
    1) ripped it with smart ripper
    2) created a d2v and wav file in DVD2AVI
    3) then merged them in TMPG in DVD quality using 8000 kbps
but on fast moving action the video gets all these lines across it, I've attached a sample image of a women turning her head suddenly.
Now this is an extreme example of what happens but I noticed that this happens when the background is moving aswell.
Why is this doing it and can I do anything about it?
I've tried installing stinky's MPEG and converting the video directly from the VOBs but it still does the same thing.

    Any help would be appreciated

  2. I have a hunch...

Back when Disney released Bambi on LD, the reviewers complained that the still elements looks nice and smooth while the moving elements had noise in it. It turns out that what they were seeing was the artifacts of restoration, in particular temporal filters. That is what I believe you are seeing.

  3. Interesting idea but this is something that happens from original DVD footage as well as my own stuff so that isn't the problem.
I assumed it was a problem with the DVD2AVI or TMPG ENC codec but if other people don't have this problem it can't be.
