You could join the AVI's using Virtualdub giving you 1 larger AVI or you could encode the AVI's seperately and bring them together in the authoring stage.

  3. I would convert each file idependently and the import them into tmpgenc dvd author. Tmpgenc dvd author will play them all seamlessly.

The easiest (bit not cheap) would be with Canopus Procoder, It will combine all different sources to a DVD MPEG2 compliant file without a problem.

But i believe that is NOT possible with the cheaper Procoder Express

  5. You could frameserve with AviSynth. Multiple avi's or mpgs

  6. yea sounds good guys only problem is once i joined the avi's the file size is over 2.5gb im trying it now and ill let u guys know how i get off.

  7. 1) Open them both in virtualdub (file1 first then open second with 'append avi' option. Then frameserve to your encoder.

    2) Use tmpgenc and select the option to open sequential avi's as one movie.

  8. Hi I have one movie in two AVI's. The problöem is that the audio streams in AVI's have different sampling rates (16250.00000 vs. 41.66667) So VirtuaDub is not appeneding the segment. Considering I am a newbie could someone please give a bit more detailed description of what I shoul do.

And here are the diferent AVI file info as retrieved from VirtuaDub.

I thought this would help in comparin the two files. Appreciating all replies.

You shouldn't really ask a question in siomeone elses thread you should start a new thread , anyway you know for the future.

As to your question , You cannot join files with different specs you can only join files with matching specs.

If you have a film in two parts , the best way is to encode the two parts seperately and bring them together in the authoring stage.

I would first of all extract the audio from each file to an uncompressed wav using virtualdub then find the total time of the 2 parts and use the DVDRhelp Bitrate calculator to give me a bitrate . The encode the 2 parts of the movie at the given bitrate.
The add the two parts in the authoring software and they will play seamlessly on the disc.

  10. Point well taken. I did not know that one. So thanks for telling me.

Anyway, going forward, I am just checking if I am getting you right. Now extracting the AVI audio wil be done but the stage when I am authering the SVCD using TMpgEnc (I use TMpgEnc), I dont know how I can join the AVI to get one MPEG file or do you mean something else?

I personally think it will be alot easier to join the AVIs and then TmpgENc will handle the rest. Is there anyway I can join them. THe file infos are given above.

    Thanks

They look the same to me , Xvid mp3 sound , both at 48K.
I have had that where they just don't want to join but appear to have the same spec.
I think you are just going to have to encode them seperately.

If your going to make SVCD how much are you planning on fitting onto a disc ( time wise ) if you did join them it would be like 2h45m.

  12. yea.. so I see two alternatives.

    1. Join the AVI's and then do the rituals to extract sound and then encode using TMpgEnc and have a batch project and divide the movie and fit them in three CD's for a good bitrate. OR

    2. Encode the two AVI's using TMpgEnc with a high bit rate (Calculator shows about 1760 or time wise would be 55 minutes on a 700 MB CDR) and then join the mpgs and cut them into 3 equal parts.

I am using Bit Rate Calculator which recoomends a bitrate of 1760 (to be exact) if I divide the movie (total time 2h 45m) into 3 parts of 55 minutes playing time each.

Now what I dont know is how to either join the AVI's or Join the MPGs and then cut them. Any software that you can recommend?

    Thanks
