Splitting an avi

Hi
i try to split an avi into little file with ulead video studio
i split my video in 6 other video, but when i try to save them with the button save trimmed video i have an error

This AVI codec ID cannot be trimmed

What does that mean and how can i fix this problem ?

Try Virtualdub and this guide; https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?link=357. I don't do this much, but I believe you can only cut on keyframes. If your keyframes are messed up, that may cause a splitting problem. Someone here can probably give you better info.

Ok so you think it is a problem with the keyframe of the file ?

The problem is that right now i cannot open this file in virtual dub, but that's another issue to solve ...
