  1. I'm just curious, how do you stay organized and neat with all the video and audio software on the PC? What is the most efficient way to organize.
Right now, I have some v/a apps on C: and D:. Capture and audio recording and editing go to the F drive. Many short cuts on the desktop seem to help me also.l

I keep all of my programs in the standard "Program Files" directory on my C drive. I capture on the D drive and I keep all my mp3's on the E drive. I keep all of my programs organized by creating different folders in my start menu "all programs" group.

  3. This is how I stay organized. Made it a lot easier when I first started learning. Keep a seperate F drive with all Video files on it.

I put mine into folders on the desktop which relieves clutter, plus I don't have to keep accessing the start menu when I want to access a different program, but everyone has their own little way of shortcuts.

I keep all software and no video or images on my OS drive.

    60 GB - OS drive
160 GB - stripe 0 RAID array - Capture video
120 GB - rendered video, ripped DVD, ISO, drive

As far as keeping the apps organized, I keep them in the programs folder and I have a folder on the desktop with links to the apps I use most...decrypter, shrink, imgtools, ifoedit, IC7, premiere, photoshop, after effects...etc.

  6. I keep windows in its own partition with nothing else installed there. All my programs have their own partion organized by these folders.

    audio creation & editing
    audio encoding & ripping
    cd & dvd burning
    dvd &video
    file sharing
    graphics creation & editing
    graphics viewers
    internet
    mp3
    personal
    reference
    system toolz
    web site toolz
    xbox toolz

Have a seperate hard drive for video storage and another hard drive for mp3 storage, and another partition on the c drive for all the other junk that is waiting to go onto cd's or dvd's.

Keeps everyhing in its own place and easy to find. I never use the default location when installing something

i have 2 120gig drives in a RAID 0 array... and I just install everything on there. no partitions... no nothing, just 240 gigs of HDD madness.

I should really learn how to make a partition... seems like a hassle though.

I keep all my applications on a 80G boot drive. (XP PRO) The most used apps shortcuts are on the taskbar, the lesser used pinned to the start menu and the least I leave in the 'All programs'. RAID just has files, Backup drive has system and app backups. Also have shortcut to a couple of download folders on the taskbar for easy access. Downloads folders organized by type (Video, Internet, Graphics, Utilities, etc.) Never have any shortcuts except the trashcan on the screen, I don't like clutter. Just one partition on each drive, also.

  14. dump them all in one folder
with guides on how to edit (its so hard to remember how to do something if you havent done it for a couple of months)

its irritating that some programs need to be installed
i can never remember which ones do when i reformat
