  1. Hi,

When I try to encode an xvid to a NTSC DVD TmpgEnc Plus finishes in 1 second and I'm left with a 40kb file.

    The video file is " Video : 309 MB, 1055 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 640*352 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4,

The audio file is an extracted .wav from Goldwave. It was originally an mp3.

I'm tried to use the guides listed http://www.dvd-guides.com/guides.php?category=othertodvd&name=tmpegenc and
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/186739.php

Yesterday I got through the encoding but there was no picture. Since then I've crashed right after clicking START with TmpgEnc Plus. I set a higher priority to the AVI VFW Compatiblity Reader but that didn't help the crashing.

I uninstalled TmpgEnc Plus and reinstalled but now like I said at the top: Bang-100% complete and a 40 Kb mpeg 2 is made.

I haven't posted a lot but I've been reading over the last few months. I did try searching and read through the "Common Problems" sticky but I don't see anything.

I've been predominantly successful encoding and otherwise converting vcd's/svcd's to dvd as per header tricks and conventional encoding.

This has been a different experience.

Any ideas/tips/help would be greatly appreciated it.

    Thank you.

It could be bad frames in the AVI . Have you checked for bad frames with virtualdub?

  3. Yes. There were none.

I just tried to encode a vcd to check ifTmpgenc Plus would work at all and it seems fine.

Have you tried making the DirectShow priority the highest priority?
    Hello.

  5. Yes. DirectShow Multimedia File Reader has been left at the top, at 2.

And you have the right DivX codec installed? Also, is Source Range disabled?
    Hello.

  7. I just downloaded and installed them again, (directshow and binaries) just in case from https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=190#comments

    Source Range is not checked.

I lowered the bitrate to 5000.

I started encoding again and after the about 1 frame, the preview frame looks frozen on that picture.

Maybe the frame is bad, but TMPGEnc cannot pick it up. Try using the source frame function, but set it to start encoding just past the first few frames.
    Hello.

  9. Thanks for the suggestions.

I skipped ahead a few frames with the source function.

I couldn't see where it would start when I set it. I don't know if that's normal.

Currently the video is frozen in the preview window as the encoding is going but now on another picture. It looked like the first picture that it shot up. It never changed.

This file was supposedly from HDTV. I don't know if that means anything.

  10. Follow-up:

I had another .avi file that I was having problems with.

I uninstalled and reinstalled TmpgEnc Plus. I uninstalled the K-Lite codec pack and reinstalled the newest one.

This .avi can be encoded now.

Also, the Hdtv .avis that I originally posted about began encoding just fine now also!

Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.
