When using VirtualDub to extract (wav=) AC3 with direct stream copy or as a stream, sometimes it wont import into Maestro, or has no audio in authoring tools like dvd-lab or tmpgenc DVD.
I tried using AC3 Machine to processs AC3 -> AC3 and it has fixed several of them
These are the settings I use, dont know if any are not needed to make this work.
LFE to LR: -3db
Channel Mode: 5.1
Dynamic Compression: light
Boost: 1db
Bitrate: 448
On a side note, be sure to check AC3Machine output while it's processing, it shows how many channels it's acutally using. I've caught it using 2ch when processing full WAV, which is why I tried this method.

I'm guessing it rewrites to do the boost and compression. During the rewrite it does something to make it compatible, either in the header or the data itself.
