  1. Hello,

    I have been very successful creating svcd from avi's. I just got a dvd burner and now want to convert some of my avi's to dvd. I have read all the guides and searched th forums for the last 3 days and have gotten very confused on the audio issues. I open the file in gspot.

    audio format

    name = 0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 3 9 i knowthis is mp3)
    status = codec is installed
    biterate = 96 kb/s (48/ch x 2 ch) CBR Fs = 44100 Hz

    video formate

    codec
    4cc = DX50/DIVX Name = DivX 5.0
    status = code is installed
    Aspect = 352 x 256 (1.375 : 1) bit = 791 kb/s
    framerate = 25.000 FPS ( i know its pal my dvd plays it) duration = 01h 17m 56s

    I know that there are audio sync problems if you don't convert the audio to wav. my question is do i need to still extract the audio since it is already mp3 since i'm now converting to dvd? When I did the svcd I use tmpgenc wizard to convert the video to the proper formate and add the audio i have extracted from goldwave as a wav. from what i have read over the last three days i understand that wav audio takes up alot of space and I would like to fit as much as i can on one dvd. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

  2. audio spec (Pal or NTSC) from "what is DVDR":
    *******************************
    Audio:
    48000 Hz
    32 - 1536 kbit/sec
    Up to 8 audio tracks containing DD (Dolby Digital/AC3), DTS, PCM(uncompressed audio), MPEG-1 Layer2. One audio track must have DD or PCM Audio
    ******************************

    might look at AC3 or MPEG-1 layer 2 as less space-consuming options.
    Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping...
