  1. Hi, I have a Winfast 200 XP Deluxe and I have issues capturing sound in Power VCR II. The audio level captured at is FAR too high, yet any altering of sound or line-in sound level in the taskbar has no impact on the results. There does not seem to be a record volume adjuster in the program, and seemingly no easy fix registry entry, although there is a recvolume reg entry that looked enticing. Any help is welcomed.

  2. If no fix, you might look at Iuvcr... it has audio level adjustment.

m/w, you might re-check your winfast card audio hookup.. perhaps plugged up worng ..

    Hi,

I am having a somewhat similar issue using powerVCR as well.

However, my capturing either from VHS or directly from Cable results in an avi with fluctuating, choppy sound. Basically, while recording sound is fine, but after playing the resulting file, the sound gets louder at times and quieter at others.

This has been the same issue while using PowerVCR, WinDVR, AVI_io and IUVCR. I have an Asus TV Tuner card (TV880), and have been using all of the default settings for each program.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanx!

I have the same issue. The line-in record level is set at about 70%. I can manual lower the level in the audio properties of Windows but every time I open PowerVCRII, it hijacks the setting.
The curious thing is that this has just recently happened. I got a new computer at Christmas which has new audio, video, and Windows XP so I'm not sure if any or all of these things contributed to the problem.
I am trying WinDVR3 and it seems to hold the volume level after I set it (which can be done in the WinDVR program unlike PowerVCRII).
I am going to re-install PowerVCRII to see if it corects itself.

Another note, with any capture program that I have tried (PowerVCRII, ATIMMC, IUVCR) after I open and then close it; when I go to reopen, there is no sound. I can still play saved files with sound in a media player but I have none in the TV capture program as it plays or records. This only fixes itself when I reboot.
This is not a problem with WINDVR. I can open and close as oftern as I like and not lose sound. Any thoughts. I have an ATI TVWonder VE capture card.

    Hi,

    Hi,

I am wondering if capturing with onboard sound is the culprit to my sound volume fluctuation issues?

I've an ASUS TV Tuner - TV In Capture card, (TV880), P4, Win XP, 1G RAM and onboard sound.

While WATCHING cable TV or VCR tapes, the sound is excellent, with no fluctuation in volume.

However, while watching PLAYBACK of the resulting mpeg file, the sound is choppy and cyclical in volume - louder at some times and lower at others.

This has occured in both TV Cable and VHS captures, and with four different avi capturing programs as well, (PowerVCR, IUVCR, AVI_io, WinDVR).

I read somewhere that some capture cards do not recommend using onboard sound, but actually recommend a separate sound card. Would this issue only arise in playback of a captured file?

Would getting a separate PCI sound card, with its own processor correct this issue of fluctuating sound volume after capturing?
If onboard sound as opposed to a separate sound card is not the solution, then would I need a different capture card?

    Thanx!

    John
