I've seen the comparison between an older version of TMPEG and CCE which gives CCE a roughly 2 to 1 edge in performace for MPEG2 encoding and almost 3 to 1 on MPEG1 encoding on a Pentium III.
Does anyone have a sense of whether these numbers still hold for the latest versions? I'm still figuring out if I need MPEG2, but given that they are roughly the same price, I'd be inclined to get CCE Basic if it still holds a big performance edge (I'm running a Pentium III still)

You could easily download both trial versions and perform a test specific to your system -- then you'd really know how they differ on your pc.
