  1. What's the best program out there to capture video through firewire at real time, to get best quality results? Then to output to DVD-R. My O.S. is Windows XP-Pro.

    Thanks

#1. Shitty subject line. Any reason you couldn't type a normal one?

#2. You don't CAPTURE anything via firewire. When you IMPORT video via a firewire card you are doing a simple file copy operation. With that said, Ulead makes a number of software titles that support DV import. http://www.ulead.com

  3. Its normally easiest to use the program that came with the firewire card. As it was already mentioned its just a transfer of data. However, if you use a pinnicle program you might want to export to avi and them use tpmg to convert to mpeg.

  8. I capture DV video through my firewire port all the time. You can also call it importing, copying or transferring if you want.

If you aren't sure how to capture DV video through your firewire port, check out the capturing guides on http://www.vcdhelp.com/capture.htm

I'll have to try that scenealyzer out. Does it do multifile DV captures?

Main concept will do multifile type 1 captures (so you can just capture your whole 60 minute tape at once), but you are limited to 4 Gb if you capture with type 2.

Rimmer, I'm so jealous of your DVD-R. Let us know how it is working for you.
