  1. I have converted and resized a avi that was in 2.35:1 to a anamorphic mpeg2. But when i load the video in DVDLab u can read under"Ratio" 4:3 shouldn't it say 16:9 ?
Do I not need to be worried about this ?
It sure look like a 16:9 on my widescreen tv..?

On your widescreen TV it should look OK, but if it's played on a 4:3 TV it will looked messed up. Did you set the correct (output) aspect ratio when you encoded to MPEG?

  3. Yes I did.
It was a 2.50:1 PAL source not 2.35:1.

    Resize(704,412,1,0,638,256)
    AddBorders(8,82,8,82)

    Think this script worked well...

But I meant when you encoded to MPEG, did you set the output ratio with your MPEG encoder (like TMPGEnc) to 16x9, instead of 4:3 (which I believe is the default in TMPGEnc)?

Otherwise I think you can use IfoEdit to edit the aspect ratio of the video after you author the VOB, IFO, and BUP files....

  5. Shit!! default in tmpgenc 4:3 ?

I use AVI2DVD with a script.. so Maybe u are right.
I belived that program told tmpgenc that it should be 16:9...Because u just start avi2dvd and it loads up tmpgenc and u can't change any settings then...

Can i load my vob,ifo ,bup etc.... in Ifoedit and se if i got 16:9 ??

    Thanks for your help.

If you just did that automatically, then it should have set it correctly, but it might not have - I think 4:3 is the default when you load any video into TMPGEnc, but if you're using a program like AVI2DVD I think it can change the AR to the correct AR, but as I said, it might not have.

Yeah, you should be able to load the IFO file for the video (i.e. VTS_01_0.ifo) into IfoEdit, then in the lower window click on the line under "Title Set (Movie) Attributes", where it says "Video: MPEG 2". That line will tell you your aspect ratio, and if you wish to change it, double-click on that line, and a pop-up window will open where you can change that.

  7. Also, in DVD-Lab when authoring, go to the project menu and there is an option there to set up the project, and you have a choice between 16:9/4:4 video and 16:9/4:3 menu. Make sure the project is set up correctly as well.
