My problem is the following:
I encode a 720x480 29.97 fps Uncompressed AVI to a M2V file. I play it media player and it displays fine, playing at 720x480 looking like the original clip (I am not talking about quality here, my problem is solely based around aspect ratio and pixel aspect). I then import it into Impression Pro 2.2 and I make my DVD and everything previews displaying fine, like the original 720x480 non-distorted source file. Then, when I burn my DVD+R or DVD+RW, and then put it into my DVD-ROM drive to play, the image plays back stretched vertically to display at 720x540. When I put it in a set top DVD player, some of them display fine at 720X480, but then others once again stretch the video vertically by 112.5%.
That is my problem. What I want is for the video to display properly at 720x480 in my DVD-ROM like a real DVD would. I have tried using bbMPEG and TMPGEnc, but both yield the same problem. In bbMPEG, I set the MPEG-2 to Square Pels because the 4:3 display option just gives me a 720x540 vertically stretched M2V immediately. In TMPEGEnc the setting I was using was under the Video tab 1:1 VGA and under the Advanced tab 4:3 525 NTSC with Full Screen selected. Once again, I use these setings because they are the only ones that get me a 720x480 M2V before importing into Impression DVD.
I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem, or please if anyone can tell me a possible way to fix this. Keep in mind I am using Impression. I would also like to know the exact settings that any of you use who don't have this problem when you are encoding in either bbMPEG or TMPGEnc and importing into Impression. I followed the guides here but they did not get me anywhere. Thank you very very much for any help at all, this is a problem that has been plaguing me for over a year and I have tried every combination I could think of.
Also, if anyone can who uses Impression can tell me of another MMPEG-2 encoder that I can use and that you have gotten successful results with, please tell me. I am willing to pay top dollar now.
