  1. i have a web cam on my pc i started recording using win movie maker
    then i left for 5 days left it running came home and now i want to skim through the video

    problem is i cant seek or fast forword and it would take to long (5 days)
    to watch this video. can anyone help. should i convert it to another type of file formatt? if yes what type and what program would i use

    if anyone can help thnx in advance. id did a search and didnt find any how to 's or tutes .

    This is a longshot but you might be able make the file seekable by using ASFTools. How big is it, anyway? I'm not sure converting to another format is a good idea considering that your file is in the neighborhood of 5 days long. Christ, I'm getting pissed off for you just thinking about how long that would take, especially with your CPU! Maybe splitting the thing up into smaller chunks would make it seekable. I've had pretty good luck splitting ASF's with this movie splitter.

  4. the file is 2.65 gig so i thnk it might have stopped somewhere along the lines

    Try using the splitter I recommended and split into 250mb chunks. Hopefully they'll all be seekable.

  6. i tried that splitter tried 250 mb chunks it kinda just sat there for a whileafter about 2 hours there was still no progress and the prog wont convert to any other file format any last resorts?

  7. If you have the hard drive space you can remux to Matroska.

    ASF content will seek just like an AVI when repackaged as Matroska.
