  1. Hi-
Brand new to capturing, using a Pinnacle PCTV Pro card that I've had for some time. Capturing old VHS tape to secondary hard drive, using Power VCR II, using MPEG-2 (so I can burn to DVD). Captures seem to be fine, and audio/video is synced. However, given that Power VCR records the video in separate segments, I have to merge them. I've tried several programs for merging (Tmpgenc, Womble), and whatever I use, the video goes somewhat out of sync (audio preceding video). I'm spending an inordinate amount of time trying to remedy this problem before I waste time capturing more of my old videos.
My system: Dell P4 2.2ghz (onboard video -- is this the problem?)
    768 MB DDR RAM (PC2100)
    WD 120GB 5400 RPM HD
    Pinnacle PCTV Pro
    disabled Norton Antivirus
    Win XP home

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

In settings you can adjust the size of mpegs before they are split,i used to set mine at 5 gigs.

  4. THanks! I changed that setting. But with regard to the existing captures I've done... would you have any idea why merging them with TMPGenc and Womble each resulted in de-synchs?

    Thanks again

hm- I changed the 2 registry entries, but the one under current user keeps defaulting back to 600 (decimal)...??

You dont need to merge the mpgs when authoring, just add them to the same track if you use tmpgenc dvd author, the movie will play all the way thru without breaks.Merging causes desyncs cause they dont get merged together properly, thats all.
