    Ive opened a few audiots folders on my dvds and they are empty.Is this normal if so where is the audio stored.
    any help gratefully accepted

    yes, this is normal. audio is stored in the .vob files in the VIDEO_TS folder.

    As an added note, the newer Nero doesn't even generate this folder anymore.

    AUDIO_TS folder is used for DVD-Audio.
