  1. just wanted to verify. When I go into tda and tell it to use X video file and replace the audio with X audio file (usually just the cleaned up version of the original audio) it does REMOVE the original audio file correct? I guess I just wanted to make sure it's not still getting shoved onto the dvd and just not being pointed to...

  3. I know it's playing the cleaned up track since that is what I specify in TDA..I just wanted to be sure that it is NOT putting the other audio track that is attached to the original mpeg2 file in there. So it's not:

    VIDEO <---DVD Plays This
    AUDIOOLD
    AUDIONEW<----DVD Plays This

    But RATHER!:

    VIDEO <---DVD Plays This
    AUDIONEW <---DVD Plays This

    Thanks

    Hi muskgrave,

I use TDA with separarte audio and video files as sources and am 99% sure it just uses those.

I'd be surprised if TDA, being the level of quality it is, would do something daft like that. That's whyI didn't go the full 100% - I've never actually confirmed.

    Here's a way to check:

I haven't used TDA for a while, but I believe TDA tells you how big the final authored disc is gonna be. If so, use this in place of step 3 below:

    1. Go to the DVDRHelp Bitrate Calculator and click on advanced mode.
    2. Enter the length of your footage and select 1536 for the audio bitrate (this is what PCM is), or whatever audio bitrate you're using.
    3. Author your footage using TDA and your different source files (cleaned-up audio) to a re-writeable (just in case it does do the daft thing).
    4. The calculator tells you the total (in the bottom-right corner of the slightly darker green box, just above the copyright statement).
    5. If the size of your authored disc = what the calculator says - all's as you want it to be.

Good luck. Post back how you get on...
