    Hi,

I can't capture this one NTSC tape to Computer. All I get is a vertical rolling frames effect.

I live in Australia, so my video players are PAL, but they all play NTSC
    to a TV.

    Here's what puzzles me.

I have have 3 video players, and each of them will play the tape perfectly, when connected to the TV. ( This tells me that the tape is fine ) When I connect to the video input of my capture card, I can hear the audio, but the video is either lost it's vertical hold, or sometimes it drops out altogether.

I have a canopus ACEVIO capture card.

I've tried capturing using Let's edit and Vegas 4.

Any thoughts as to why this is happening, or any remedies wold be greatly
    appreciated.

    Cheers
    Scott

  2. Are you capturing in PAL? Seems to me that even though your VCR plays NTSC tapes, it would be outputting the signal as PAL for your TV to be able to display the video, so you would have to capture as a PAL source.

Could be your VCR's are outputting what is known as PAL-60 which is a form of outputting NTSC to a PAL TV but it is not a true NTSC to PAL conversion ... as a result it really only works on some PAL TV's.

Very few capture cards will capture PAL-60

You are better off getting a VCR that will output the original NTSC without conversion and capture it like that. You then get a NTSC capture and if need be you can convert it to PAL on your computer (though it can be tricky doing such conversions).

Another option is to get a VCR that will convert the NTSC to true PAL format. Then you capture as you would a normal PAL signal. These VCR's are more expensive though.
