  1. What causes a DVD "back up" to freeze up during playback in a stand-alone DVD player? For example, sometimes near the end of a movie it will freeze during playback, or occasionally during one of the extra features.

Is this a result of problems during the ripping process, or when it's being written to a disk, or with media itself? I found that test copies on RW disks later play back properly on non RW's.

    What gives

Bad media. Not necessarily bad as in "low quality", but bad as in "not very compatible with your player".

  3. That might be it, because whenever I use a Fuji -RW I usually have to reload it once or twice to get it to play. I have an Apex AD-1500 that plays nearly everything, but occasionally it needs help.

    Thanks!

I'm going to agree. My Maxell +RWs rarely erase the first time and most recently failed during a burn. After I did get it to burn all the way, it locked up in my AD-1100W....
