    You usually count roughly 10 MB/1 minute VCD mpeg. A DVD is 4480 MB, => 448 minutes= 7 hrs, 28 minutes.

Not crappy, but not the right one for what you're trying to do. If your mpegs are VCD compliant, then what's left to do to make'em DVD compliant is to resample the audio at 48 kHz. If you use TMPGEnc DVD Author (instead of DVD Workshop) it will perform this task automagically, while leaving your video untouched.

TMPGEnc DVD Author (instead of DVD Workshop), worked .....

How long should it take for TMPGEnc DVD Author to recode the mpeg's(total 4400 MB)

    Gilster

only need a valid key for TMPGEnc DVD Author..

TDA shouldn't reencode the video at all, just the audio, which ought to be fairly quick(depending on your computer specs).

This can be obtained from Pegasys.

    Yep, that is about right.

I'm working on E.R. series 10 and I predict there'll be about 10 episodes (app 43-44 mins each) per disk.

    worked like a charm..........

took hell of time , it took TMPGEnc DVD Author, aprox 4-5 hour to recode the mpeg's to vob, is that normal ?????? (working on a 750 mHz)

(all 10 episods on one disk, damm i love my DVD-burner, tried to overburn 2 episode on a VCD (cdr) not so good )

750 MHz is pretty low end these days, so I wouldn't be surprised, even if 4-5 hrs just for muxing seems like an awful long time to me. But then again, I guess there's reencoding of the audio in that time too. Time for a new 'puter, maybe?

  12. Ok, about timing.
    If one would follow guide
VCD To DVD Conversion without reencoding the video
    then 4-5 hours
    could be reduced!
More over. Now TMPGenc DA does transcoding, and BeSweet is not needed.
The output audio files are different, mpa and mp2, but quality looks the same.
Authorization with separate video and audio takes a minutes.
