I've access to a pretty decent camcorder. Unfortunately, the very first footage I ever recorded with it was of fireworks, and the footage dramatically showcased a major failing with the camcorder. Evidently, its lens introduces a huge degree of lens flare to anything significantly bright (such as fireworks), and this manifests as a bright vertical line, typically extending all the way from the top to the bottom of the image. It really is quite bad. (It is not the fault of any lens damage / dirtiness, either, though that is not the focus of this thread in any event.)
Perhaps this is not what people normally think of when they imagine "lens flare", but once again, I'm not sure what to call it. At any rate, I'm hoping there's software out there that is designed for reduction of this phenomenon, on a reasonably non-manual basis.
Thanks as always!
