ok im kind of new to the editing. I have these 2 programs. I am editing mpg2 dvd compatible. I have about an hour worth of video. I like to edit the video, by adding transitions, Pips and still photo's. My quesiton is this, How can i have the audio go along whith the whole movie. I don't want to loose the audio, i want the audio to go along in the backround and not go out of sync, for example i added a still or transiton for 5 seconds, how can i have the audio still playing while doing the transition or the still or the pip, and when the 5 seconds is over the audio is in sync with the video after the transition is over. I hope this is not confusing?

Don’t take my word for it but I can’t see how you are going to keep the original audio track of the movie playing over still shots, transitions yes as Studio8 automatically fades out and in through the transition. When adding still shots they have no audio except if you add a voice over or music.
In Studio8 I edit my movie first including all transitions, stills, titles etc. then add an audio soundtrack from a CD. You can add soundtrack before but if you add or modify a clip or transition in anyway the programme has to re record the track to allow for this. -
Are you observing loss of video/audio synchronization with both applications?

With videostudio, the best you can hope for is to load the audio as a separate entity in either the voice or music track in addition to loading it with the video, set the video volume to 0%, then try to slice the video track into sections and adding the extra content without shifting the original video. -
Well you have a few options in the studio realm. If you put the pictures in the overlay track along with your transitions it will work fine. Or you can place your video on the video track and lock the audio, so when you mess with the video the transitions will not fade. Now if you have HFX pro you can even expand more with this. Or if you have studio 9, you can place your video in the Music track, lock the audio, then place your video in the video track, mute the audio in the video track and lock it, then split your video where you want to put pictures and then use smart movie to add transitions quickly or add them yourself. So many options, good luck.
