Now i know im not a complete dunderhead, but i just read my dvdr drive supports this burn feature. I didnt even know what it was until 5 mins ago, i just thought HD-BURN menu in nero was something with hard-drive backing up or something.
So, is there any um, downsides to burning HD with a cdr? Im kinda weary of squishing the bytes closer together then they already are. You know how these people complained going from 650 to 700 at first...

I think you will find the biggest down-side is that you will probably only be able to read the disc back in the recorder that burnt the disc in the first place.
Media could be an issue too - this was discussed elsewhere in the forums only recently, and I seem to recall one or two people having trouble finding the media that the player would accept when doing an HD-burn. -
