I am not a strong believer but i do know my history and what i have read. I know the bible well enough to compare it to this movie. I have done a considerable amount of research concerning this movie so that i could have an honest opinion of it. I wanted to know why it was made and the points behind it. The movie was not made to show what kind of man Jesus Christ was but it was made to show the true suffering that he went threw the last 16 hours of his life. All other movies that were made telling this story always left out the truth behind his suffering. The point has been made over and over again on how good of man Jesus Christ was and his Beliefs. No movie until now shows the true suffering that he went through. Most peoples mistake about the movie is that it was made to tell what kind of man he was but they are wrong.

I've seen the film on Friday and as horrible to watch.
I don't think anyone would want to die like Christ. The film as terrible, very graphic and very bloody.

amen to that! when i left the theatre, all i had was "christ, he took a beating!" me & the wife both couldn't get the bloody images out of our head that night. not much more than i would have gleened from a good gangster movie.I wanted to know why it was made and the points behind it.
-i've said this before in another forum - it strikes me how the resurrection scene almost seemed like an afterthought. like they spent all the money on the slow pan toture shots and when they get to the part where he comes back it's like "oh yeah, and he comes back to life. the end."
-enough ranting for me. i didn't really care for this interpretation. it was like oliver stone once again rubbing everyone's nose in the single point he's got to make.

Most of the comments here speak to Mel Gibsons vision,his interpretation of the New Testament and how accurate :P that vision is. What is he the Prophet from Hollywood? Matthew, Mark, Luke ,John and Mel.
The National Post called the film "a failure of imagination." Gibson "is like a man trying to craft an eloquent oration when he only knows five different words."
The Toronto Star also gave the film one star, saying "what graphic sex is to the body in hardcore porno, graphic violence is to destruction of the body of Christ in this Passion."
The Montreal Gazette called Gibson's "literalist Gospel account" the "most sustained sadistic violence I have ever experienced in mainstream commercial cinema."
The movie is a passion play meant to inspire the faithful(Christians), but tends to ignore key biblical events of that day, like Pontius Pilots actual involvement, Judas,and the last supper.
If I want to watch excessive gratutitous violence I'll watch Scarface, at least there is some accuracy to that.Just shut up and listen dumbass

We're reading more into it than it deserves .....it's just a movie folks - not meant to replace sunday school, hebrew school, or catechism classes. It's a product being marketed to sell lots of tickets, and it's working. If you're looking for accuracy, don't look to Hollywood to provide it :P

Please remember i am not a strong believer but i do respect people and their religions. My g/f is a strong believer and knows her religion very well and understands the movie very well. Her is her opinion on the matter.
This movie was made to show everyone ALL THE PAIN AND SUFFERING that Jesus Christ went through for mankind. All of the other movies that have been made show what a "good" man he was and they shows that he died and rose again in 3 days but this movie was not made for that purpose. It was specifically made to show the true pain and torture and the blood that Jesus shed so that man could be saved. People tend to think, oh so Jesus died for sins but never stop to realize HOW he died for them.
I think people had rather critize the movie than really think about and accept that this movie was made strickly by the Bible. People do not want to accept that Jesus went through all of THAT just so they could be saved because if you really think about it that way then conviction comes into your heart and people had rather not feel that because then their way of life and sin would be uncomfortable.
It is a good thing that all you remember is the blood and the pain and the suffering. Trying adding this thought with that......Jesus did that just for you!!!!!!!! Yes, it was done for all of mankind but if there had been only ONE person.....Jesus STILL would have done it for that person.

For one and all to know i am not pushing religion on anybody but stating facts about the movie and how they relate to the bible. The fact is someone should not talk about something they know nothing about. If religion is to not be talked about in this forum then this movie should have never been brought up. You can not talk about this movie without discussiing religion. If i were trying to push religion i would be talking to everyone about being saved and how they need to do the right thing. I am talking about the movie. I have my right to voice just like everyone else. I am in no way shape or fashion trying to push religion.
Religious movies can not be talked about without talking about the religion itself.
If this a problem then this entire thread needs to taken off.

i apologize for the miss use of terms concerning moron and oxymoron. Sometimes i read a little faster than i need to and over look some of the letters. That was an honest mostake. As for the rest of what was said It was not a personal attack but a mere statement of facts based on the bible. Once again each to his own and i stick to my last post.
If you do not want to talk about religion then dont talk about this movie. It can not be dicussed without talking about religion.
I move for this thread to be removed or stopped. This way no one else can hurt anybody eles feelings or offend their own religion. I move that this topic could be considered in whole a forum violation if you want to look at it the right way.
