My sister lives in Europe and has a PAL Camcorder. I live in the US and have an NTSC camcorder. I will be visiting her soon and would like to put her home videos on DVD for her.
Is it possible to dub her tapes from her camcorder to mine using a firewire cable and then capture them on my computer when I get home?
I have read that some people have been using their DV cameras as computer backup devices, so I was wondering if "data is data", or if there is something specific in the stream that will prevent the dubbing. Keep in mind, that I have no intention of playing the video from the camera, just using it as a data transport.
If it is not possible, any suggestions (short of buying a cheap PAL DV cam?)
