  1. Hi.
When I use the wizard in TMPGEnc I get to a screen where I can chose the size of the output-file...I think itīs in screen/step 4/5.
Itīs very handy to set it up in 99% to be sure itīs bitratrate gets maximum quality for the 80-min disc.

I have then read somewhere on this excellent site that itīs much better to skip the wizard and set it up manually...why I donīt know, but it suits me fine if the process get faster this way.

    My question is:
How can I get this scren/option if I set the file up manually?

Today I tried to get a 3 hours film in thre parts..it fits almost exactly if I split them in 3 pieces and use 99% of the disc-capacity.
If I donīt use the wiz-mode I couldnīt possible know what size the outputfile get when itīs finished.

    Any answer is highly appreciated.

If the files encode and come out to the right size and you are happy with the results then you dont need to do anything else.If you wanted to manually setup your files then choose cancel when you run tmpgenc next.

  4. Actually if you give it a little extra bitrate and lower the quality level a little it will still maintain quality but use less bits since it will be utilizing bits more efficiently, more VBR. Actually yields higher quality

If you don't use the wizard then you have to use a bitrate calculator, look in the Tools section for one.

You can use the wizard and still adjust all the other settings manually, just don't change the bitrate after setting it in the wizard. Best thing to do is make your own template to use with the wizard.
Also, most of the time even 101-102% will fit on an 80min CD without having any overburn. I usually just enter 800 for the estimated file size then round up the bitrate and I've never had a file turn out with even a full minute of overburn.
