  1. ok heres the deal... i have an avi movie encoded with xvid(its a dvd rip)...i usually convert my files to mpeg with tmpgenc but for this file (which is about 750 megs) the conversion would make it over 4 gigs in size...not wanting such a big file, i decided to put it as is on a cd using nero. it then encoded it for about 2 hours and burned it no problem. so i put it in my dvd player and the picture looked nothing like my original file (which was 528x288). the image was fullscreen and all stretched...is there any way i can keep the image widescreen on my tv? please help

You shouldn't use Nero for reencoding files to VCD. Use TMPGEnc instead, so you can get the widescreen settings right. Then only use Nero for authoring and burning.

I couldn't agree more. Nero allows ZERO control of its encoding settings and as you discovered, it often yields poor results. Definitely go with TMPGEnc and as GodOfKnowledge stated, use Nero only to author. You should also select a 4:3 aspect ratio and change the video arrange method to "Full Screen(keep aspect ratio)".

...Or you can use 16:9 aspect ratio and and use "Center - Custom Size" to get the picture size correct.
