I've been having problems with certain codecs i try to capture with, with my ATI All In Wonder 9600 Pro. I try selecting the YVU9 codec but then when i go back into the screen UYVY video format (Native) is selected. Same with every other codec that starts with Y that is directly under it (YUY2 and YV12). It could possibly have something to do with a serious problem that had happened before. I did something stupid and was trying to put more slack in the chord (the purple box chord) so that the new video and audio chords i got could hook up to the purple box. While i was doing this the TV and my Computer was on and it must have sent an electricity into my card. My card is fine now, it seems, and can capture with huffyuv fine. I'm thinking it could possibly have something to do with that, maybe it corrupted the codecs. I'd use Huffyuv but for some reason it just looks noisier than the YVU9 codec. The YVU9 codec looks softer to me. I have the latest mmc so that can't be it either. I'd try to uninstall the codecs and reinstall them but i don't know how. Please help.

De- Installing as many codecs as you can and only re-installing the ones you need or want is a damn good idea anyway...Codecs have been known to clash and cause all sorts of weird and wonderful problems.

There are two ways of de-installing the codecs (or anything)

    1) The easy way
through settings --->control panel ----> add remove programs

    2) the hard way
find and delete the actual files on you hard drive.

Sorry....i dont know which may be conflicting...but i dont think the conflicts are necessarily that predictable.

If you do not need any of the codecs you listed i would remove them.

otherwise you may need to experiment or wait for a more knowledgeable visitor to these forums..

I'd say it's MMC 8.8 or 8.9 causing the problems.

If you hosed your system, speaking in terms of codec troubles, the only way to TRULY fix this is to reformat and reload Windows ... as well as be careful with codecs in the future.

Been there, done that, never gonna forget, never goona do it again.
Some of the damage done is nearly impossible to track down.

On the other hand, don't see why unplugging breakout box would do anything. I've done this myself a few times, no troubles. I don't think that's the cause, not at all.

Try to take off the new MMC and put on 8.7 instead. If that doesn't work, go ahead and plan on a reformat. Then you may want to just uninstall everything codec-wise. If it works, great. If not, nothing lost anyway since you'd reformat.

    Bad situation. Good luck.
