  1. I have a 25 GB DV-AVI (Type 1) that I captured with WMM. In order to work with it, I understand that I need to get it into Type 2. I have tried using Canopus to transcode it into the "Premiere compatible Canopus AVI (Type 2)" because it says the file size is unlimited, but it always will stop and generate an error message once the file is between 5 and 6 GB. Just for reference, I will be working with this file in VirtualDub, TMPGEnc, and Pinnacle 9 (going to purchase soon). Is there some trick to making this work? Thanks.

  2. Sounds as if you have a corrupted source AVI file.

You might try Gspot or AviCodec to check...

The Canopus converter utility should run thru the complete 25 gig file w/o problems....
    Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping...

  3. I'll run one of those to check, but I don't see how it could be corrupted....its a straight capture from my DV camcorder and it plays fine in WMP.

  5. Not that this will be terribly helpful for you. But, I have never been able to successfully use the Canopus DV Converter. EVER.

It also bombs or says it's corrupted when it's not (my DV type 1's).

So, I gave up and pulled it into ULEAD or VDUB (after installing the Panny DV Codec) and was able to finagle it from there.
