  1. So what is the newest/best or future recommened player for playing most everything nowadays? I know there's alot of factors in picking a player for individual needs but I just would like to hear what everyone else is picking for there choice in players. I've heard alot about the new Liteon model 2010 coming out, is that a good choice to hold out for? I've also been interested in the Kiss players with ethernet support, that could be a pretty handy feature. Anyway I'd like to hear what everyone has to say.

  2. Depends on where you live...
I've heard the new Yamada 6600 is coming (not in the US of course, but everywhere else) with MTK1389 chip which is supposed to replace Yamada 6000/6100 which is supposed to be excellent.
I've also heard that Sigma is coming out with new chips this summer...

Additionally, check the www.divx.com forum's official list of certified divx players (never mind the polaroid which was "self-certified") There are couple of new JVC players on that list which divx is saying are going to be very good. Again, I bet these will be available in Europe only, but who knows.

I would probaly not get anything with SIGMA8500 chip now (I have Liteon LVD2001 myself) because it seems to be a dated chip. I am also curious about a number of players that have this ESS VIBRATO II chip, but I cannot find anywhere what the difference is between the original ESS Vibrato and ESS Vibrato 2.

  3. Take samples of the type disks you want to play and try them out in the store. Most of the LARGE electronic stores have the DVD players set up like the car radios and you can switch to different players.

When you find one that pleases you, you can buy it there or at a discount store.
If it works, don't fix it.
