  1. I dropped the CD into the DVD-ROM tray, it loaded up. I try to go into SmartRipper, but I get a Bluescreen saying:

"Windows protection error. System has been halted. Restart your computer."

    What's the problem?

  2. that you are running that junk ME instead of 2000...LOL

seriously, sounds like a hardware conflict, if it does this with multiple disks, then try switch IDE channel of the drive. I dunno, I stay away from the 9x/ME OS line.

  3. I use WinME and have never encountered a problem.
The thing with WinME, if it encounters any sort of Windows protection error, it will stay like that until you find out what the conflict is. I'm assuming you have a lot of, pardon the experssion, "junk" programs on your computer. You may have some conflicting dll's. I used to have that screen pop up whenever I had to shut windows ME down. I would have to RESET the computer because it had been "halted". When WinME load up again, I then can shut down the computer. The only way I found around this was to FORMAT and clear my hard drive of unnecessary files. By doing that:
    1. WinME loads up three times faster than before (assuming that it doesn't have to load up all those programs you see on your system tray), and
    2. It shuts down properly now.

Uhm, and question: Are you talking about a CD or DVD?
