I'm havin a problem convertin an AVI file into MPEG usin TMPGEnc.
My AVI file is 480x208 and in letterbox mode as in there are 2 black gaps at the bottom and top of the movie file which I wanna keep. Whenever I try 2 convert 2 MPEG, TMPGEnc keeps the letterbox mode but puts black gaps on the left and right of the movie.
I even tried encoding in 4:3 so it fits the whole screen but same thing again. There's still a gap on the left and right although there is no gap on the top and bottom. What should I do? I have no idea what settings I should use etc.

I've tried all the Source Aspect Ratios available but I keep getting the same result. The black bars still appear on the left and right hand of the screen.

change the clip frame settings. set it to the "full-keep aspect ratio" setting.
that way, it will fit and should have the proper aspect ratio...asdf -
I've tried that and it still has a gap on the left and right of the movie. What else can you suggest?

I sorted the problem. It was jus my windows media player playin the movie with gaps on the left and right. But my realplayer was playin it real fine with no gaps on the left and right of the movie. Thus I burned it onto a VCD and it played fine on my stand alone DVD player and in PowerDVD.
