I am trying to use Scenarist Pro version 2.6.0.0218 but I´m having problems :

If for example I try to import a .mpa file for sound everything is OK. but when I try to import a .m2v or even a .mpg file of video then it reject it .

The only clue I can give you because I am very new in this stuff is that in the rear left window, under General I have 2 WARNING messages:

    1. Warning ! Quadrant or Sigma Design MPEG decoder is not presentor the driver is not installed.

    2. Warning ! Hardware decoding of video may not work.

I have allready download the Sigma Design MPEG but I am sure that I am missing something...
I have also try to find simmilar problems in your forum but I found nothing so I decided to make this post trying to get help....

Thank you all in advance !!

One would assume that if this truly were the original installation setup, it would have documentation on an install error like this, as well as include all needed files for the program to actually work as required.

Maybe I'm wrong... but it makes sense...

You have several high-dollar programs here, all of them generating this same error. It seems unusual, to say the least. Contact SONIC SOLUTIONS at www.sonic.com, read their KB, and try again.

And no, I don't use such extravagant programs. There are only two people that use them: professionals and software pirates. I am neither.

when you buy the program -- you get a decoder card ...

i can let sonic know that you seem to be lacking one in your installation -- which you should out pointed out during the training session you can receive ...

they also remind everyone to upgrade to the latest revision -- as the one your using is quite old and has a few bugs running on XP ..

Hey I´m a new guy here and I have not a black soul...

All I do is making a simple question. If you know, you answer. If you do not know, then you are not answering.
What is the point here ? To help each other or what ? Anyway, if it is me the reason to break your heart for a prog that not even starts then I clear it from my hard disc and forget the idea.

Thank you all for your support !

i answered you -- you need the hardware decoder card which comes with it for that warning to not be there ..

Yeah, well, you know what you get when you ass-u-me, don't you.

Yes, one would assume that such would be the case... if one were not well aware of how software companies are always trying to save a buck here and there by skimping on the documentation. You would be amazed at the number of bizarre issues I have had with installing programs out of the box, even high-dollar ones like ULead Media Studio Pro or WordPerfect Office 2002, all because whichever programmer drew the short straw and got stuck writing the manual failed to include some key bit of information which he assumed was "common knowledge" and so obvious as to not need explanation... or because the programmers who wrote the code assumed that no one ever changes their system configurations to, for example, disable "auto insert notification" on their CD-ROM drives. (An assumption which kept me on the phone with Corel for at least an hour trying to get WPO2002 to install properly since they tried to "idiot-proof" the "insert next CD" dialog box by greying out the "OK" button so you couldn't click it until the install program saw the disc change.)

One might also assume, BTW, that if one has no helpful answer to contribute, one might have the grace to keep one's yap shut.

solarfox - Scenarist comes with two large manuals and training (from most retailers)

there is also huge pdf file(s) and a monster help file ...

also - ULead Media Studio Pro and WordPerfect Office 2002 are cheapo programs -- sonic Scenarist is a 22,000$ ++ program , not exactly the same catagory ..

I already gave you good advice... as did BJ_M ... contact SONIC SOLUTIONS, give them your serial/registration info, and they should bend over backwards to help you. Especially since it costs more than some people's cars and homes. Sonic has never failed to help me with DVDit! PE problems, and it was $600, a drop in the bucket next to Scenarist. They answer 24/7 for support, FYI, at least last time I used them, never any trouble getting help. You have private access to support areas to online. Of course, this assumes you actually own it, and can access such features and get the tech support.

before you can add your videos to Scenarist

you'll first have to demultiplexed them
    (separate audio from video)
and then you'll be able to import them to Scenarist 4 authoring

regarding to the message Scenarist drops about Quadrant or Sigma Design MPEG decoder, just ignore it

    cheers

yeah i agree with harrisonford most posts from Smurfos are abusive and the ones that are somewhat helpful are tinged with sarcasim and inuendo. It was a valid question! If Smurfo don't like it don't respond, some people have way tooo much time on their hands, I guess in Smufos case there is a big ass suck factor in stead of flaming every post here you may be better off dousing your own ass in petrol and striking that proverbial match......dickhead!
