  1. OK I finally replaced my old computer with anew one and transfered my programs.

I'm using TMPGEnc to do my avi to mpeg2 conversions and I'm using DivX Player (5.02 Pro Codec) as my player to check files before I burn to DVD.

However something is very wrong on my new computer. I have no audio.

When I play files on DivX player there is no audio and when I try and do conversion on TMPGEnc there is no audio.

I know I can create a .wav file using virtual dub but that is a extra pain in the ass and the same programs recognized the audio portion of the same .avi files on the my old computer.

How do I fix this so I have audio for conversions and playback?

So you will spend hours and hours downloading stuff that you probably shouldn't be downloading and you bitch and moan about taking an extra often required step?

    What a joke!

Oh well then.....I guess I can't help. You could try Goldwave but that takes even longer.... so even more pain.

  4. The .avi files in question are imports from my Digital video cam.

I only want my programs to run like they did on my last computer. Using Virtual Dub to create a .wav sometimes gives me audio sync problems.

I only asked for some help, not a hard time. I thought this is where you go to get some help?

Funny thing is ... that imports from your Digital video cam would be in DV AVI format not DivX AVI format.

So just shut up and go away already

  6. Yes but they still played on my DivX player. And I could encode them on TMPGEnc.

If you don't want to help fine but please spare me your crap. I'm not a computer genius, I'm trying to figure out how these things work and I could do without yor kind of assistance.

I'm trying to find a solution to what is probably a simple problem. If you dont like it then you go away.

Where does SteyrAUG say that these are divx files, all he says is that he uses a divx player to play his avi files.

Fulcilives if you have a problm with a post go through the proper channels and report it in the appropriate thread. Do not take it upon yourself to reprimand a member. Even if these were downloaded DIVX files (which there is no evidence they are), there is nothing in the forum rules which says this cannot be discussed. It is only a problem if the files downloaded break copyright rules. Not everything DIVX is illegal.

Just to mention: This DV / DiVX misunderstanding is a typical pronounce problem. I know lot's of people, no so hardcore PC users, that mess up DV with DiVX because the one is pronounced Dee Vee and the other Dee Vee eeX.
