    I've got an NEC 1300A (latest firmware i believe), and nero only shows it having a max write speed of 2x.
    Whats going on?

    maybe the media is only 2x...you sure it's 4x ?

    My NEC 1300A would not burn 4x Princo at 4x until I updated the firmware to version 1.0A

    How do I verify which firmware it is? I updated to 1.0A but wanted to make sure.
    the media is Ritek 4x.
    Any other suggestions?

    In Nero in the "Recorder" menu go to "Choose Recorder" and it will show all the details including the firmware of your installed drive(s).

    If it's any help I've just spent all evening trying to get my 1300 to burn some 4x Datawrite Red (V2) but after upgrading Nero and the firmware I can only use them at 2x. At 4x I get a power calibration error.
