    Search Comp PM
Goto your start menu and look for the xvid folder shortcuts and click on AviC (FourCC Changer) and browse for the xvid file and load it in then choose divx in both fields and click on apply.

  3. use virtualdub open file -full processing mode -
    compression - divx
    audio - direct stream copy
    save as avi.

    WHY?
Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  4. You can usualy change an XVID file into a DIVX file simply by changing the fourcc codes near the beginning of the file with a hex editor. This method avoids reencoding the file, saves time, and you don't lose any quality. Open the file with a program like Hex Editor (free from http://www.hhdsoftware.com). You'll see XVID (one lower case, one upper) in two places within the first few hundred bytes. Change the first one to divx and the second one to DX50. Save. You're done. Actually, changing only the second one seems to work.

Sorry, I don't know how to make this appear in a fixed pitch font, but here's how the right hand pane from Hex Editor looks:

    Before:

    RIFF.".+AVI LIST
    ."..hdrlavih8...
    @...............
    (...............
    ....@...........
    ........LIST....
    strlstrh8...vids
    xvid............
    ....P.......(...
    .u...'..........
    ..@.strfl...(...
    ....@.......XVID
    .`..............

    After

    RIFF.".+AVI LIST
    ."..hdrlavih8...
    @...............
    (...............
    ....@...........
    ........LIST....
    strlstrh8...vids
    divx............
    ....P.......(...
    .u...'..........
    ..@.strfl...(...
    ....@.......DX50
    .`..............
