  1. I have a dvd, Swordsman II, it plays fine on my sony player. But in my dvd-r drive, it can't even see it. No dvd found according to dvdshrink. Dvddecypter says "incompatible media". The dvd-drive in windows explorer turns to "cd-drive".
How can I make the dvd-drive recognize the movie?

  3. I'm not using the latest firmware. I did flash it about 2 months ago.
It played my other DVDs and other back-ups and they work fine. But when I play this one it is just not recognized. My sony is a region 1 (or U.S. forgot if US is 1 or 3) but it is U.S. Standard.

I can try the new firmware and see what happens.
But until then, any other suggestions are welcome.

  5. Are CD's and DVDR recognized by the drive? If they are then the disc is the problem.
Do you have ForceASPI drivers installed?

  6. For me, I've been on an older firmware, my cd's and dvd's (origs & back-ups) are being recognized. This is the first one for me to act up like this.

  7. I tried doing the current firmware for the Optorite2203 but its on DOS.
It requires me to create a boot disk, then to extract the files to the disk, but then there is not enough room on the disk for the firmware files.
Anyone have a trick for that? Or should I start a new thread?

Also, still can't figure out why (Swordsman) that dvd is the only unrecognizeable one for my dvd-r. The previous foreign films warned me to change the region settings beforehand. But this one just is not recognized as inside the drive at all. "Please inser disc".

  8. The disk is not a region 1 disk I assume, and if you have changed the region on your drive 4 or 5 time then it is now perm.
Have you tried any other foreign films since you had this problem ?
I suspect that you will have this problem with any none region 1 disk. as you cannot chcnge the region on the drive anymore.
There is a hack somewhere that can make drives region free. I do not remember where I saw this though. check the tools section.
    Hope that helps
