  1. Hi All:

I have been reading a lot of postings and specs from various manufactures regarding using DV to capture. I really like to see a complete list for DVs (D8, miniDV, etc) with digital pass-through capability. This will save a lot of time for many people. Please post your experience and result here.

Thanks you for all your help.

That might make a good addition to the capture cards section, list them right along with everything else as long as there was on option to search for DV cams, seperate from the DV converters search.

I have a Sony TRV-22 and it has passthrough. Works like a champ. I have never lost A/V sync on 20+ VHS conversions.
I know the TRV-33, TRV-38 also sport Passthrough, but the TRV-19 does NOT!

  4. I have a Panasonic PV-DV953 (NTSC) (a 3ccd camcorder that is reasonably priced at $1299 (B&H)). Putting it in "VCR" mode (same mode used to playback tapes) and setting a menu item to "DV OUT" enables this feature on my camera.

Using Studio 8/9, I have never had any issues bringing in native DV recordings from TAPE. Using it as a passthrough device, I have had to use Scenalyzer or else source imperfections cause loss of sync in Studio. Scenalyzer DOES a perfect job, though, so no complaints with my camera.

I have a Sony TRV-740 Digital 8 camcorder with S-video I/O, Composite I/O, Firewire I/O, and USB I/O. All of these can be use in Passthrough mode and when coupled with Ulead VideoStudio and my PC,... it makes a complete Non-Linear Editing system, end to end video capture to DVD disk burning.
"Technology",...It's what keeps us all moving forward.
