I just looked at the top of the readme file for Mencoder. It says:

Mencoder is currently the only (and fastest) direct DVD-DIVX ripping tool for the Macintosh : )
    Followed later by:

    It ran at 3-7 fps.
I ran HandBrake, which does the same thing, DVD to Divx, and I was getting 47 fps.

    Anyone else used HandBrake before?

I've written a tutorial for it and will post it when I get home.

  2. I use it all the time. HandBrake is fast and 2 pass encoding gives very good quality avi s. The new test (0.6.0) version seems to run faster. It only needs subtitle support. Great gui.

Well, if you have the time and such, you can use Handbrake to make an avi file, then use vpc and subrip to make some text subs, and use matroska muxer to make an mkv with them all. I am still talking to the matroska people aboot hosting it.

Thanks for the info. But, I, probably, wait for the developer to implement that feature that is already on the to do list... looking for all-mac solution.

    Thanks again.
